We fall short in enforcing Constitutional Rights, the Human Rights Act of 1993, addressing key issues and challenges, and ensuring an effective judicial role in safeguarding human rights. Our struggle is for a better India.
Disparities in educational quality, particularly in rural areas. Economic and social obstacles, especially for marginalized groups. Excessive focus on exams rather than practical skills. Academic pressure contributing to stress and mental health challenges.
Caste discrimination in India remains a deeply rooted issue, especially for Dalits and lower castes. Despite constitutional protections and affirmative action, it persists in education, employment, and society, leading to marginalization and violence.
In India, disability rights challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, limited accessibility, and widespread social stigma. Public spaces and services often lack the necessary design for people with disabilities, and healthcare and educational facilities.
Voting rights in India are granted to all citizens aged 18 and above under the Representation of the People Act, 1950. These rights are universal and inclusive, ensuring equal participation in elections. However, challenges like voter fraud, misinformation, voter suppression, and obstacles for marginalized groups persist.
Transgender rights in India have advanced, with the 2014 Supreme Court recognizing them as a third gender and the 2019 Rights of Transgender Persons Bill aiming to protect their rights in education, employment, health, and social security. Access to societal acceptance remain major challenges for the transgender community in India.
Environmental suitability in India involves balancing sustainable development with environmental conservation. Challenges like air pollution, water scarcity, deforestation, and climate change persist, despite policies like the NAPCC.
Capital punishment in India is legal for certain crimes like murder, terrorism, and espionage, with its enforcement rare and limited to the "rarest of rare" cases. The death penalty remains controversial, with debates over its morality, deterrent effect, and potential for wrongful conviction, leading to growing calls for its abolition.
Civil liberties in India, guaranteed by the Constitution, include rights like freedom of speech, expression, assembly, and religion. These are protected under Fundamental Rights, but challenges persist, such as censorship, protest restrictions, and infringements on freedoms for national security. Balancing civil liberties with laws and security remains an ongoing effort.
National security in India focuses on protecting sovereignty, territorial integrity, and citizens from threats like terrorism, war, cyberattacks, and natural disasters. It involves the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and law enforcement, with policies aimed at strengthening defense and counterterrorism efforts. Ongoing challenges include border security, insurgencies, and cyber threats.
